Once again Ripete and KHP Music team up to bring us a CD of various artists that surely the most discriminating ears and/or dancing shoes will find something to their liking. Pat Carpenter's arrangement of David Ruffin's "On and Off" kicks off the CD. In trying to come up with a clever way to describe it, all I could think of is "This is a great
arrangement, vocals are right on - I likes it". The Coppertones' popular "Real Man" can be found here remixed, as well as another jewel from The Entertainers, "In The Summer Moonlight". This is an original tune penned by The Entertainers' Vic Wheeler.
My buddy Bill Ballard has written some good tunes, most notably "Ocean Drive Sunday" recorded by John Franklin. Tharold Huffman is credited as the performer on Bill's latest creation, "Highway Number 9". This is a good bluesy, kickin' back, adult beverage drinkin' tune.
Johnny Hilton sings about his "Dancing Girl", while Beach Music newcomer Greg Moseley tells us about the girl looking so good with her "Carolina Tan". A few other tunes on the CD that have been released in promo format or on CD you have heard on radio and/or at clubs are: "Drink Up" from Big Time, The Carousels on "You Got Me Working Day and Night", and a remix of "I Need A Walk On The Beach" from my buddies, The Mixed Emotions. Last but not least, the spiritually soulful Boykin Brothers round out this CD with the very "shaggable" "Let Your Light". This alliance of Ripete & KHP reminds me of a cat my sister had in the 60's. Every time we turned around, she was having a litter of kittens. This release of the music is good. The kittens were another story. You knew this was coming: Add this one to your CD collection. It's available at your Beach Music retailers or various online merchants.
